Tips for Healthier Living
Maintain a healthy body weight: Body mass index (BMI) 20-25kg/m²
Keep physically active: Help maintain body weight, keep blood sugars stable and blood fats such as cholesterol down. Exercise is also thought to help us feel good and is important for strong, healthy bones.
Eat more fruits and vegetables: Aim for at least 5 portions a day. The more variety you have the more vitamins, minerals and antioxidants you will consume. Fruit and vegetables are also a good low fat snack option and are high in fibre.
Eat fewer fatty and sugar-containing foods: Such as fried foods, sweets and pastries. Instead try to choose lean meat, poultry, fish, beans and low-fat dairy foods, like skimmed or semi-skimmed milk or low-fat yogurt.
Choose products lower in salt: Use less salt in cooking and seasoning.
