White’s Oats has appointed Steven McAllister to the role of Agri Supply Chain Assistant. Steven who is originally from Bushmills will support the Agri Supply Chain Coordinator to develop White’s local supply chain and ensure it continues to deliver the best quality oats for customers.

White’s is committed to increasing its oat production in partnership with local growers in Northern Ireland. It has invested heavily in its oat agronomy programme over the past three years with a clear focus on improving oat quality and the long term sustainability of oat production within the business. Steven’s appointment will see the continued collaboration between White’s and its growers as it seeks to drive forward its commitment in its supply chain from farm to mill.

Speaking about his new role, Steven said “I grew up on my family farm growing potatoes, so I have a keen interest in agriculture and locally grown produce. The increased awareness among consumers on the benefits of a healthy and sustainable diet has fuelled demand for oats and I am looking forward to carrying out farm visits and learning more about the development of oats from farm to mill, all while helping to improve oat quality and sustainability on farm’’.

Commenting on the appointment, Sean Kane White’s Agri Supply Chain Co-ordinator said, “White’s is committed to investing in its people to ensure our supply chain, innovation and products are of the highest quality. Steven’s diverse role will focus on monitoring crops throughout the growing season, carrying out plant and grain counts and crop assessments. His hands on approach and new ideas will help strengthen our offering as we work to develop our product portfolio of porridge oats and oat cereals to meet changing consumer health needs and deliver a more sustainable business model.”

Steven has a BSc degree in Agriculture Technology and a National diploma in Agriculture. Outside of farming, he enjoys helping out with his local youth group and is a huge football fan.
