Breakfast is recommended as part of a healthy diet because it is associated with healthier macro and micro nutrient intakes, a healthier body mass index (the measure of body fat based on height and weight) and a healthier lifestyle.

Despite all the health benefits of eating breakfast skipping this meal is common among children and adolescents. Cereals that are rich in wholegrain such as porridge with fruit are an excellent choice.
